    I know exactly the ride feel you're eluding to. I had a Van Nicholas Skeiron that was basically an off the shelf geometry with large titanium tubing, check my video, and it handled weird. I didn't like it. But I like titanium so I had a custom builder here in the US make me a frame around my like of the Colnago M10 sloping geometry, almost the same bike as the V3RS. I had one of those bikes and the handling was phenomenal, something Colnago has nailed. I certainly made the right decisions specking out my titanium frame because I have never loved riding a bike more than this one.

    But Ti does not have carbon's sculpted look; not my style. It has that certain Soviet Collective Factory look although its minimalistic design alludes to Steve Jobs’ appreciation for simple but not simplistic design like the iMac and iPhone.

      @charlesmansplaining Годину тому

      After all my years of experience with bikes starting from back in 1978 when I bought my first real road bike and progressing and trying many frame materials I learned some important lessons especially about carbon and came to appreciate frames of that "Soviet Collective Factory" look, to the point that I think they are much more beautiful than any carbon frame on the market today. Put a professionals painting skills to work on a steel or titanium frame and no carbon bike can match the attention it draws. And there is no chance the frame may be toast when it falls from being blown over by the wind.

    I'm surprised that this bike is fast on the flats. I'm sure it has to do with the stiff rear which can be a good thing. The front steering definitely has to do with the fork and head angle. But like you said it just takes time to get used to it over time. Later down the line could you compare it with your steel bikes based on your personal opinion of course.

    • @charlesmansplaining
      @charlesmansplaining Годину тому

      I agree, I think the geometry around the fork length, headtube angle, and rake isn't very well thought out and it would be a hard thing to get used to, especially if you're ridden a well designed frame before.

  • @test40323
    @test40323 4 години тому

    sweet ride, awesome group. slow turn-in usually caused by front fork geometry and tire size. did you notice better stability at higher speeds? look forward to your final review.

    Luis Scott I can only hope you get this rather lengthy comment: I presently ride a Trek Domane SL 5 full carbon with disc brakes; 56 cm frame and everything is stock on it. My problem is it does not have any lugwork for a bike rack to ride with paniers. Several years ago I had a Raleigh International with all the beautiful lugwork , but I crashed it and the insurance company insisted on having the frame if they were going to pay for the bike. My point? I would love to have a good steel framed bike (custom built if I can afford it) that would be made for my body frame. I long to have a good lightweight steel framed bike that I could ride around town on or, if I so desired, go for lengthy rides if I so desired. Any comments you make will be appreciated. I might add that I live in a western burb of Chicago and to the best of my knowledge, custom steel frame bicycle builders are few and far between if there are any at all.

    Thank you for the review. I have a couple questions. You mentioned measurements but didn't include your height. Were you happy you ordered the "50CM" frame or would you get the 56CM frame if you did it again. From what I read, most bikes are limited as far as speed goes to something like 20mph. What does it feel like if you go over 20mph? thx..
